The Public Right to Vote

Marin Municipal Water District Board.

What can you do? Urge your Board member to approve the public's right-to-vote initiative to let the public decide on desalination!

Measure T and Measure S

As most of you know, there are 2 ballot measure on the November ballot.

There is our measure, Measure T, and MMWD's measure, Measure S. The difference is that Measure S allows MMWD to spend millions on contracts for permits, design, and engineering of the desal plant without a vote of the public.

Our measure, Measure T, requires a vote before MMWD can spend such funds. We say, "Vote before you spend." Yes on T, No on S-pending.

A steering committee has begun meeting to drive this campaign on a regular basis. We are planning a kick-off event in early-mid September.

In order to be successful, and to break through the confusion of the 2 measures, we will need help with such things as calling voters, going door-to-door, leafleting, and fundraising.

Nearly half of Marin votes absentee, so these things will need to happen soon.

Please let me know which of these activities you'd prefer to work on or if you have any other suggestions for how to make the campaign successful.

By June 18, more than 17,000 ballots had been turned in and were counted. Read the results from the Marin IJ . . .
